Looks like I might be hittin' the road again!
Soo, just got the word today that I've been accepted into a student exchange program....as a result, I'll be spending a semester at Deakin University in Melbourne next February. Can I get a what what?
So, yeah, I'm pretty pumped. Anything that gets me away from home is welcome, and I've always wanted to check out Australia. As it appears many of you are Aussies, I figured I could put this question to you: anything I should know about Australia before shipping out? I've come to the realization that beyond the wisdom imparted upon me by my anthro prof ("Just remember, assume everything is poisonous unless explicitly told otherwise") and Men At Work (the Land Down Under is "where women glow and men plunder", and also "where beer does flow and men chunder". Also, if I can hear (I can hear) the thunder, I better run, I better take cover) I really know very little about your country. Unless life in Oz is essentially how it's portrayed in Crocodile Dundee, in which case I might have this on lock-down.
So, enlighten me. Just don't all speak at once; I've plenty of time before I actually leave to absorb your collective wisdom.
