{The 1914 recipe}
Ingredients:
• 2 cups rolled oats
• 125g butter
• 2 tbsp hot water in which you put 1tsp bicarbonate of soda
• 1 tbsp golden syrup
• 1 cup plain flour
Recipe:
Mix dry ingredients. Melt butter and syrup and add soda and water. Pour into dry ingredients.
Roll into walnut-sized balls. Cook in slow oven, 150-160 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes.
