9 days to go!!!
It's our last full day in Shanghai today we've just been lazing around. slept in till 10am coz getting up at 5am twice in three days (and always going to bed late) finally took its toll.
so tomorrow evening we take an overnight train to Beijing for the last leg of the trip. we're getting a soft sleeper which will be cool. it's a four-bed, private closed of area with a TV (so iv been told). v exciting.
we've done quite alot in the past few days. we did 2 day trips to Suzhou and Hangzhou. In Suzhou we saw a pretty little garden and a leaning tower that supposedly leans more than the leaning tower of Pisa. so there you go. it was impressive and definitely worth a look. It weighs 6000 tones and leans 3.49 degrees to the East. In Hangzhou we had planned to do a whle bunch of things but we got lost in a park so that sorta messed everyhting up. anyway, we went to a famous lake and watched the mating antics of the peacocks in the surrounding park.
we also spent a couple of days hanging out with Chang and his auntie Sophia (who's actually the same age as us). the 1st day we had planned to surprise Chang by taking him to the museum of Chinese Sex Culture. One of the Korean boys from our dormitory tagged along too for the day. Unfortunately, we discovered after a couple of hrs of wandering the streets in the rain that the museum had relocated. Bit disappointing but we consoled ourselves with retail therapy at some cheapo markets and then went to see the Acrobatics in the evening. Was definitely highlight of the day. lots of juggling and human towers and little girls bending in half. and then...and then!!! then chang was asked to come on stage as a volunteer for the knife throwing trick. he was pinned against the board and the clown covered his head with a coat. instead throwing the knives the clown just jabbed them into the board but chang of course was none the wiser. so he came off stage feelin a bit shaky and regained his seat. we were all laughing and told him what really happened. poor ol' Chang. think he was a bit put out by that.
argh gotta go, running up the internet bill. ugh ugh
