Malta
I tried to escape the dreary (and extended) winter this year by going to Malta with my friend Kathy. We succeeded in having about 36 hours of sunshine and the rest of the time was grey, windy and cold. But, at least we weren't in London where it was snowing!
Malta was a great place to visit - beautiful old towns, the grand harbour, easy to get around (although the driving is a bit mad!), amazing places to eat out, and fantastic local wine (Malta is mostly limestone). It is a shame the weather let us down as when the sun shines, the Mediterranean is stunning and the sandstone buildings are golden.
Unfortunately we didn't make it to Gozo - on our last day we had hoped to get the ferry over and have a bit of a guided driving tour. Unfortunately the sea was so rough that we decided to abandon the plan and instead had a tour around Malta instead, visiting places not always seen by the tourists. Very much appreciated the local perspective!
As always, there are new photos: Malta and some more in Autumn/Winter 2012-13
