Paris et al
Arrived Thursday evening, having gone by bus from Edinburgh city to the airport, plane to Heathrow, plane to Paris Charles de Gaulle, RER to Paris Nord then Gare de Lyon. Faced with numerous exits and tired by then, we rang Kathy for exit advice. She met us in Hall 1 and walked us to our hotel.
It is an old Paris hotel. Tiny lift which stops on landing between floors. %-) We have a nice sized room and an enormous bathroom. Wish they had installed another towel rack in the bathroom - we are busy handwashing. ;-)
Friday, Dad and I slept in. Then we walked to Notre Dame, stopping at the green boxes where Dad bought two prints on the theme of the south of France. Had lunch at a Japanese restaurant then walked back to the hotel to drop off the prints. Had scenic walk to the Louvre, arriving slightly later (1 1/2 hours) than our planned meet time with K&R. They were still on the metro after a French lunch with Manu's parents. After several texts, managed to meet inside the large glass pyramid, and had over 3 hours in the Louvre (it is open late on Fridays). Yay for pre-purchased tickets. For our evening meal, Kathy walked us to a restaurant area near Notre Dame - an area she frequented as a student. We had a lovely menu meal and they coped well with Dad's no milk requirement. Sat at our table watching people at 10pm still wandering around deciding where to eat.
